Unit 43: Changing a Flat Tire

For Special Attention

spare = a spare thing is extra—something you don't usually need. — 备用的东西就是平时用不上的额外物品。
jack up / lower = you can jack something up but you cannot "jack it down." Instead, you lower it. — 可以说 jack something up（用千斤顶顶起），但不能说 jack it down，要说 lower it（把它降下）。
to the ground = to the ground means to the surface of the earth. — to the ground 就是到地面上。
nut = a nut goes on a bolt. (See p. 61.) — 螺母拧在螺栓上。（参见第61页。）
