Answering the Phone

Kate heard the phone ringing...
picking up receiver
...and picked up the receiver.
answering by saying hello
She answered the phone by saying hello...
letting caller speak
...and then let the caller speak.

hanging up
...and then she hung up.

If It's a Wrong Number:

wrong number caller
Kate didn't know the person the caller asked for.
telling wrong number
She told him that he had a wrong number.
caller apologizing
He apologized and hung up.

For Special Attention

let someone speak = you stay silent. — 你保持沉默。
The person who answers = usually speaks first. — 接电话的人通常先开口。
caller = usually says goodbye first. — 打电话的人通常先挂电话。
